Summary
Peace, or at least something resembling it, has fallen over Kain's empire after the subjugation of the human race. The age of the vampires has reached its peak. Nosgoth belongs to the night.
Eternal life lasts a long time, and as the centuries drag on, the kingdom's emperor more often than not disappears, leaving his six sons to their own devices. The clans coexist, pretty much, but only because there is always the looming threat of the master returning. And none of them would want to incur their lord's wrath should he find his kingdom in shambles upon his return.
But when the years of Kain's absence hits double digits, unrest begins to brew within the clans.
Some lieutenants would love nothing more than to pull back into their own territories where they can keep to themselves and their own without conflict.
Other lieutenants, depraved of a true goal and bored witless, hunger for battle.
And without Kain to reign in their chains, it's only a matter of time before one of them breaks and plunges the empire in total war.
That's at least how Melchiah sees it. And although he hates it, he has no choice but to pick a side.

One would think it's the garbage of society that is an easy target for a vampire.
The homeless have no one that cares for them, so when they disappear no one notices. The old and the sick cannot properly defend themselves, and well, they'll die soon anyway. Any child too young to hold a weapon is an easy target indeed, were it not for their too small frames.
Any whore looking for tricks could entice a deadly one.
But Kain had decreed they are not to be touched, and in the years that he and his sons have haunted the city, an unusual partnership between the garbage and the undead has blossomed.

Many centuries have passed since Kain and his vampire lieutenants took over the land of Nosgoth and conquered the human race. The sky had been obscured by gray clouds so that vampires could walk freely during the day as well. In contrast people have been deprived of their freedom and live in constant fear... there are fewer and fewer of them. But nothing will change the fact that vampires need human blood. At one point lieutenants introduce the function of a blood-giver – the women who voluntarily let a vampire drink their blood once a week in exchange for certain benefits. The main character of this story is Evrena, who decided to be a blood-giver for lieutenant Raziel. We will accompany her in the complicated turns of fate... in her quest to find the fulfillment of her dreams, place on earth and true love...
