    Summary

I told you we weren’t going to spend our lives in my basement, playing games and never getting girlfriends, but now I wish we could. I was wrong then. I was so wrong. I just want you to come home. I just want to play games in my basement forever, the two of us.

I’ll see you tomorrow, and you’ll never see this letter. I miss hearing your voice. I never can now, with the way the line is always busy. I miss your smile. God, I miss your smile. I haven’t seen it in years. I miss you.

I’ll see you tomorrow. Happy early birthday. Even though I’ll say it tomorrow. And you’ll never read this.

    Love, Mike

“Dude, I thought you were getting clothes, what–”

Mike flinched, dropping the shoebox on the floor and sending the letters inside sliding across the floor in cascades, pulse racing in his throat. Robin raised her eyebrows, half inside his bedroom door, hair disarrayed and sweater askew, and Mike’s eyes flicked down to the letter that slid towards it, the papers now scattered all across the floor.

    ---

Mike finds his unsent letters to Will, prompting him and Robin to talk, about Will, about Vickie, about themselves.
