Summary
The vampire's eyes are wide and round, full of amazement. They dart wildly around the sights below, as if trying to see everything at once. The lights of the city reflect upon his face, soft shadows dancing across his elegant features. The very tips of his fangs are visible from his parted lips.
The radiance of the city pales in comparison.

Two months after the brain falls, Baldur's Gate has picked up most of the pieces. The heroes that saved Faerûn have been there through most of it, helping the city get back on its feet. But now it's time to move on. Old lives and families to return to. Gale is going back to his tower in Waterdeep, back to the quiet, back to being alone; or at least, that was the plan. But plans change.
This is a story about falling in love.

Summary
Astarion fumbled with the thin strap around his neck with shaky hands. If this tadpole broke his master's compulsions, then maybe he'd be able to remove the collar.
A sharp sting shot through his fingers as soon as he touched the hidden clasp. Astarion cried out soundlessly and curled around his hands.
He breathed deeply and flexed his fingers to get the painful tingles out before looking around the woodsy clearing he landed in.

Summary
Gale knew Astarion was a spawn, which meant he had a master at one point. Whether that master was alive or dead seemed irrelevant, as Astarion was free-thinking. He didn’t seem to be under any sort of command. Most spawn with a dead master would’ve wandered aimlessly with no direction. This was interesting. A spawn with free will. There were surely limitations, though. A spawn was hardly more than a thrall. A puppet on strings.
Gale rather wanted to test those strings.
