Summary
He doesn’t mean it like that – in a romantic way. It’s just what he feels – that Will is his superhero, brave and smart and always there for Mike – and he was thinking about superheroes anyway, what with that Spider-guy from YouTube, and Mike is groaning and letting his head thump against his desk because he is really, truly head over heels in love with Will.
He’s learned to control it a bit better, tamp it down into something manageable, because Will’s his best friend and also the best person he knows, and he deserves better than Mike stumbling over himself every time Will flashes him a smile with those bunny teeth or puts his cold feet under Mike’s thighs on the couch.
Plus, Will has a boyfriend. That’s definitely – a deterrent, to put it kindly.
will has been sneaking around more and more, and mike's convinced that he has a secret boyfriend. the appearance of a local web-slinger is probably unrelated.

Summary
“So, I was thinking,” he starts, and Will freezes, halfway through helping Holly roll their small snowball into a larger one that they can stack.
“Don’t hurt yourself,” Will says, earning him a playful shove from Mike, and he laughs, giddy with the warmth that spreads through his body, radiating from the point of contact. “Thinking about —?”
“You,” Mike says, breathless, and Will’s face must convey the way his body goes into acute shock because Mike follows up quickly. “I mean — you being cold. The heater? Um, I just — I don’t want you to sleep in the basement again tonight if it’s super cold, that’s all.”
christmas, 1986. will tries not to make his pining obvious, but mike has other plans.

Summary
The ache has multiplied, now, spreading from his chest to his whole body, and he suddenly feels a real urge to cry, for the first time in — years, probably. He wants so desperately to talk to Will that it feels a little bit like he might throw up, but he knows that Will sleeping through the entire night is almost as rare as it is for Mike — less because of his brain betraying him and keeping him up like Mike’s does, but more because of the near-constant nightmares he never talks about — and he looks so peaceful, laying under the softest blanket that Mike could find, that Mike refuses to be that selfish, selfish enough to wake him.
He can — he can stay, though. Maybe watching Will breathe will be enough to make Mike’s insides stop churning, stop doing their damndest to escape through his skin.
christmas eve, 1986. mike just wants to be close to will.

Summary
It's not even like Will is some godlike specimen. His skin is olivey and a bit summer-tan, and he has floppy, honey-brown hair and a few moles smattered adorably across his face and arms, but he is very much just a boy. Average height, average build, symmetrical face. He's wearing jeans and a Zelda T-shirt and plain white Vans. But he gives Mike an awkward half-smile and a wave as he introduces himself at the box office, and Mike can actually feel himself get stupider.
Will and Mike meet working at their local movie theater, and Mike is so into Will — particularly his hands — that he almost gets fired.
