Summary
Lawrence was distracted when walking back, trying his best to wipe the retracted report from his mind, wanting to make good on his insistence that they dwell no further on it, but his soul was a ratting dog and did not easily let a scent go. Perhaps this lingering feeling of dread was what gave him the shocking impression that for a moment, when he came across Benítez staring into the fountain, he did not have his dæmon with him.
A retelling of select scenes taken from a fusion of the book and film. I would apologise to Philip Pullman and the Catholic church for forcing them to be bedfellows in this, but they've both done things to piss me off too, so I reckon live and let live.
