Summary
Scorching the surface of Rykad Minoris left Odessa von Valancius a broken shell of the woman she was becoming, but with no one able to get close enough to look deeper, the Rogue Trader's mask still worked as a face. Until she was forced to dance on the strings of greater powers that led her into the path of a Drukhari Dracon, Marazhai Aezyrraesh. After they predictably kept clashing and unexpectedly kept surviving, he'd have done anything to capture the haughty little human who humiliated him in front of his underlings and kept spoiling his raids.
When Marazhai's trap for her went off without a hitch and his gamble in the Obsidian Court paid off, Odessa found herself trapped in the Spire of the Reaving Tempest, the special little plaything of the newly ascended Archon.
Or more succinctly: Nazrakhei decided to be more self-interested than he was spiteful, and act 3 played out very differently for Marazhai and the Rogue Trader. Contains spoilers for act 4 and 5 plot points.
