Summary
Kate is an island of goodness in an ocean of fear, uncertainty, and death; as though she contains all the righteousness Sawyer had forsaken the moment he pulled the trigger and watched an innocent man die. But it’s not just that. It’s her strength, her stubbornness, the iron force of her will, and the glint in her eye that says 'I’m in the wild'. Every day he drowns in her; over, and over, and over again.

Summary
The cramped dingy scuffs to a stop on the sand, and Kate can’t scramble out onto the beach fast enough. The waves lap at her ankles as she staggers up the shore beside Jack and the others; cold, wet fingers twining around her, trying to pull her back in. 'We’re not done with you yet,' the sea whispers as, miles away, the same ocean claims inches of the island beach that had become Kate’s true home.

Summary
Kate keeps finding sand around the house despite the fact that it’s been over a week since she and Aaron last went to the beach. Little patches of sand, gritty beneath her bare feet as she steps on the bathroom tiles, sticking to her sweaty skin as she lies in bed at night. Little patches of sand like footprints of a ghost.

Summary
Kate hadn’t understood Jack’s obsession with the planes, she hadn’t understood how he could stand the anxiety and distraction that came from being at the airport when there was already so much anxiety and distraction in their lives. That had been before.

Summary
“If you’d like to review the full terms and conditions of your deal, you can have as much time as you need to read--”
Eliot shook his head, still not quite used to the way his hair curled below his chin, now, since he hadn’t been around to keep it properly groomed for the last-- however long it had been. God, he hadn’t even bothered to ask.
“You get my deep, dark, never-told secret, and I get the opportunity to try and Orpheus-and-Eurydice Q the fuck out of this place,” he said, cutting through Penny’s bureaucratic power-trip. “I got it the first twelve times.”
“I would strongly advise--”
“I’m ready.”
The corners of Penny’s mouth went up, but it would have been a stretch to call the expression a smile. “No, you’re really not."
The Monster's been defeated, Quentin is dead, and Eliot has a quest of his own--if he can trust himself to complete it. An Orpheus and Eurydice remix.
