Summary
Subong deals with a surprising amount of freaks at his job. You’d think being a pet groomer would spare you from dealing with the nutballs of society since you spend the majority of your time around animals, but no. Because those animals are paired with their owners, and sometimes those owners are real pieces of work.
Like this guy. Subong’s found himself trapped in the middle of some kind of staring contest that he does not remember signing up for. The guy is just standing there, holding his cat close to his chest like he’s afraid Subong is going to snatch it from him and looking at him with wide, saucer-like eyes—pretty saucers, Subong’s mind unhelpfully supplies—in lieu of the typical hello, how are you that usually accompanies standard human interaction.

“Cool, alright. So what would you like to order?”
Oh god, does he have to just come out and say it? Or is he supposed to talk in some kind of takeout-themed secret code? What kind of noodles translates to non-sexual cuddling? Is there even a code for something that pathetic? Subong tries to put some words together, but what comes out instead is a choked sound, horrifically not dissimilar to a death rattle.
“Dude, you sound like you’re dying,” Semi says. “Chill out. Just tell me what food you’d like.”
Is that a code word? This is so awkward. Subong stutters out, “Like. Food food, or…?”
“Yes, food food,” Semi chuckles. “This is a Chinese restaurant. Typically we send food in our deliveries.”

“Zinger Tower, extra cheese, double sauce, an order of Yangyeom Chicken, a side of nuggets with extra sweet chili sauce, an egg tart, and a large Coke Zero,” Nam-gyu finishes, rattling off the order that he and the other KFC employees have memorized against their will. “Pull up to this window right now or so help me, Su-bong, I will—”
“You’ll what?” Su-bong’s obnoxious gravelly voice prompts, sounding far too pleased with himself. “What do you want to do to me, babygirl?”
“Stop calling me that and pull up to this window,” Nam-gyu snaps. “₩23,000.”
“Aw, Nam-su, I know you like it when I call you babygirl,” Su-bong coos.
