Summary
Basically my interpretation of what happened between Jinx and Ekko between the start of season 2 episode 9 and their grand entrance in Piltover. Also gonna include a little bit of post-canon where Jinx finds Ekko on the rooftop after the battle (Because she survived obviously). I know I'm beating a dead horse writing this fic because there's dozens with the same theme but idrc :)

He blinks, the previous melancholy in his eyes pushed back to accompany confusion as he stares at her, “What?”
“Your face.” She repeats - for once, a girl of few words.
He reaches a hand up to his eyebrow, wincing slightly when he makes contact with the cut there, shaking his head, “Just…the longest day of my life.”

It’d been a year and a half since the Incident. The Z-drive was still a pile of broken parts. Jayce and Heimerdinger were gone. Ekko couldn’t look at the color blue anymore without needing to find an empty room to hyperventilate in. As if that wasn’t enough, Vi and Caitlyn kept trying to therapize him. Which was downright embarrassing.
God forbid he try to get a little closure. Of course, the second he does, the scruffy blue-haired source of all his misery lets herself in through the front door like she’d never even left in the first place.
Huh, Jinx thought as Ekko passed out and slumped into her waiting arms. So this was what redemption felt like.

“I didn’t come back for Powder,” he said, quietly. His calm, gentle gaze met hers once again, and she couldn’t look away, “I didn’t come back to fix you, or change you.”
Ekko took a steadying breath, closing his eyes for a moment to find the resolve to continue. Jinx felt herself holding her breath in anticipation for whatever warranted this kind of build-up.
“I came back for you, Jinx.”
‘Oh.’
Then Ekko continued, “The other timeline was like a dream. And you can’t live your life stuck in a dream. I wanted this. Something real. You.”
Ekko’s hands had taken hers again, though the touch was light, leaving her with the opportunity to wrench them away if she wanted. It took her a moment to process his words.

Taking a leap forward means leaving a few things behind...
WELL while taking the leap forward with Arcane Season 2 Act III, the writers sure left some VERY IMPORTANT Timebomb scenes behind. This fic is going over the scenes we missed out on starting immediately after Season 2 Episode 9's cold open with Jinx and Ekko.
I will add more tags as the story progresses! There will be post-canon content after I finish the deleted scenes stuff!

But there is so much to do, so little time. And yet... maybe, among the chaos of the oncoming storm, they'll find the time and will to pick up the pieces of what they once were.
