Summary
“I don’t like this outcome,” Lauma had said. Sweet, irrational, exactly what Nefer would expect from her.
It’s almost ironic, really—that the first thing she saw when her vision returned days later was the very expression she’d secretly hoped to see: Lauma’s relief, soft and unguarded, painted in the light of an early morning sun.
“What’s the damage?” Nefer had demanded, not daring to look in a mirror yet.
And Lauma only chuckled, shaking her head. “Absolutely nothing. You’re perfect.”
or, Nefer and Lauma, a few days into the aftermath of saving the entirety of Nod-Krai, figuring things out as they come.

Summary
"How did you even learn to draw?" Kaveh asks another day, observing another drawing closely (one where he seemed to be passionately talking about something again).
"Hm? I just flipped through a book on anatomy and got the hang of it."
. . . Why did Kaveh even bother? Alhaitham was probably the kind of monster who could draw a perfect side profile without lifting the pencil from the sheet even once.
Kaveh learns that Alhaitham liked to draw.
Or . . . he resorted to it, for reasons Kaveh would have to piece together over pages and pages of works created with the cost of a fraction of his dignity. Hopefully, he gets his answers, before the humiliation gets to him.

Summary
The toddler began to cry, and then he started to cough from trying to cry too hard, snot dripping down his face. Another adult came hurrying over to help him to his feet before they went inside to head, presumably, to the nurse’s office.
Loud, chaotic, dirty. Everything that went against Al-Haitham’s standards.
“Working here as what?” Kaveh blinked. “Like admin or something? That’s probably quiet and far enough from kids for you. Though—”
“No,” interrupted Al-Haitham. “I don’t.”
After getting fired from a prestigious architecture firm, Kaveh moves back to his hometown to raise his five-year-old brother only to find that an old college "acquaintance" is his little brother's kindergarten teacher.

Summary
“The sun is not credited enough for the moon’s allure, for that beauty awes purely due to the sun’s reflecting gaze,” Al-Haitham says, his eyes locking onto Kaveh, devastatingly so.
Somehow, time seemed to have frozen.
Kaveh snorts, “What poetry book did you get that one from?” He tries his best not to sound too hesitant.
Al-Haitham shakes his head, “One of my works of prose, what do you think?”
Kaveh thinks he should run his fingers through his junior’s silvery hair and kiss him passionately while the night is young. Kaveh thinks he wants to hear a different kind of prose coming from his mouth, a harmonious one, equally beautiful— though perhaps not quite as coherent. Obviously, Al-Haitham can’t know that.
Ever the romantic, Kaveh seems to find it harder by the day to keep his affection for a certain Scribe at bay.

Summary
“I thought you said you could resist me.” Kaveh playfully knees Alhaitham in the stomach with a teasing expression.
Alhaitham tries to think of an excuse. He really does. But with Kaveh staring at him with reddened lips, his chest still heaving from the previous events, all he can admit is, “I lied.”
People tend to wonder how Alhaitham can resist Kaveh. The answer is that he can't. Rather, he fails miserably trying.
