Cheng stepped closer, the rain pooling around their feet, soaking their clothes, and chilling their skin. He leaned in, his movements slow and deliberate, closing the gap between them. Lian's breath hitched, but he didn't pull away. For the first time in years, he noticed a faint scar that ran across his friend's lips.
Cheng's lips brushed softly against Lian's. It was a fleeting touch, barely more than a speck on the lips, but it carried the weight of an ancient custom that had long since faded from memory in Sanyua.
Lian's eyes fluttered closed at the touch, he exhaled slowly, a breath he hadn't realized he had been holding. The kiss was gentle, almost reverent.
