“My dear,” Zhongli coos, sitting down on the floor to grip the little one's face with both of his hands. “You have nothing to apologize for. This is all new for you, and it’s perfectly normal to be scared. I’m beyond overjoyed that you took a chance on this, and that it helps you.”
He finishes his long affirmation with a kiss to the other's forehead, and that seemed to be enough to have the little one sniffling and weeping. Tracks of tears finally escape his bright amber eyes, smudging his makeup as they run down his cheeks. Zhongli thumbs at the tracks before reaching down beneath the little’s arms and hauling him onto his lap.
Xiao tenses for a quick second at the sudden movement, but once Zhongli caresses his back and presses kisses on top of his bundle of hair he’s falling into the Geo Archons embrace, hiccuping out the remainder of his tears. His cries echo in the temple like the thunder that the plains are familiar with, and the tears the wet the side of Zhonglis neck keep him aware enough to continue rocking the adeptus in his lap, soothing him gently with a tune that can be carried across the mountains.
