My little brain worm has wiggled in with another Lucien x Nesta idea despite my many other projects.
This fic is set a few months after canon ACOSF. Nesta has doubts about her mating bond and life in Velaris. She feels as if she's drowning but nobody notices - except Lucien. Lucien sees Nesta cutting out parts of herself to please the Night Court and is reminded of his mother. He offers Nesta a lifeline to be a neutral party to vent to and a travel companion.

Nesta wakes to sunlight stabbing through unfamiliar curtains and the immediate, visceral knowledge that she’s made a terrible mistake.
Her head throbs. Her mouth tastes like expensive wine and poor decisions. Her body aches in places that make her face heat even in her half-asleep state. She’s naked—completely, utterly naked—in a hotel bed that is definitely not hers, wrapped in sheets that smell like sex and some woodsy cologne that she can still taste on her tongue.
The body beside her shifts, and Nesta freezes.

“Nesta!” Cassian’s voice carries from the hallway. “Nes, you awake? It’s me! Your husband!”
“I’m aware of who you are,” she calls back, turning a page.
“Oh good, you are!” he replies, bright and delighted, like he’s surprised to find her in their own home. He appears in the doorway to the living room with his arms spread wide like he’s expecting a standing ovation, his grin so bright it could power their entire building. His hair has fallen out of the bun he’d left in, dark strands tumbling past his shoulders in complete disarray. His shirt is untucked on one side, sleeves rolled up to the elbows, and there’s a sticker on his chest that says “HELLO MY NAME IS” with “SEXY” written in Rhys’s distinctive scrawl. “I missed you!”
“I can imagine. You’ve been gone for four hours.”
“Four hours too long!” He starts making his way around the couch with the exaggeratedly careful steps of someone who’s very aware they’re drunk and trying very hard to appear sober. “That’s like, what, two hundred and forty minutes? Without seeing your beautiful face?”

Cassian comes home drunk from a night with the boys and can’t stop confessing his feelings to Nesta.

Summary
Nesta and Cassian dated years ago. Their relationship was passionate in the best and worst of ways, causing them to split just short of a few months together. Ever since, they’ve fallen into a pattern of communicating physically; a true definition of hot-and-cold if there ever was such a thing. They have made attempts to move on, to be with other people, but something has always pulled them right back to each other.
Their insistence on each other created quite the toxic dynamic for themselves and the important people in their lives, dismantling relationships and creating secrets that never needed to be. They’re a complete mess, both together and as individuals, but the thought of being without the other seemed impossible.
This au follows their sordid affair and their individual healing. Hopefully, it’s not all a day late and a dollar short.This is a Nessian toxic relationship au inspired by the song "Is There Somewhere" by Halsey. (Lyrics in the Notes at the end in case you haven't heard it)
