They arrive at the scene in record time and everyone springs into action. Chimney is beside Buck the minute he jumps out of the engine, keeping his attention away from the crash.
“Maybe you should sit this one out, Buck.” He says, in a tone that’s more big brother than Captain.
Buck frowns.
“What? H-have I done something wrong?” Buck questions.
“No! Of course not, it’s just…”
“Cap! We need jaws, we can’t get into the car to help him.” Eddie’s voice cracks through the radio. Buck whips his head around to face the scene, ready to take off running to help.
That’s when he sees it.
The license plate that makes his stomach churn.
The pride flag fire engine that used to make his heart flip.
The once shiny silver metal is now scratched and bent and contorted into a shape unimaginable.
It’s Tommy’s car.

Chimney let out a snort. "I don't get why Buck's just moping. Guy should put himself out there again, he has double the chances now. I'm sure someone can put up with him."
Maddie swatted her husband's arm as he made his rounds pouring wine again.
"Seriously?" Karen questioned, the disapproval palpable, earning a surprised look from both Maddie and Chimney.
"Here we go." Hen mumbled into her drink.

Tommy wasn't expecting to see the other firefighter, and Athena's son, standing at his front door at 9:36 pm on a Wednesday.
"What are you doing here? How do you even know where I live?" Tommy asked perplexed looking between Ravi and Athena's son in confusion. It took him a second too long to register their expressions and stance.
Ravi looked anxious, his hands rubbing nervously against his jeans, while Athena's son looked annoyed.

Summary
Eddie's discomfort feels more Catholic than like repressed queer desire, but Tommy doesn’t know him that well yet. He doesn’t know either of them that well yet, not really. All he knows is that Evan has been unaware of his blatant attraction to men for over thirty years and that Eddie has a weird enough relationship with sex to go red at even the mention of anal fingering. He knows that they’re absurdly close. And he knows with startling clarity that no one in their right mind would look at Evan and not want to keep him for themselves.
