“Fool Bright. Tell me this instant why you look like you’re suffering from a heatstroke, or expect a salary cut.”

“Um, well, uh… The victim is a chemist, right? And, um… As head detective for this investigation, I went into the lab first, a-and… It just so happens that… I may have knocked a vial of unknown liquid all over me and now I’m, uh. Well! It looks like it has, um, some… Side effects. It’s making me feel a bit, uh, hot and bothered. But n-nothing I can’t handle! Ha ha ha! Let’s just say Justice sometimes has needs-”

    There is a pregnant pause.

Simon feels the air solidify in his throat.

“You mean to tell me you’ve absorbed an aphrodisiac?

    Summary

'"They say that desire is the purview of the devil himself. What do you think about such claims?" Simon leaned with his back against the prosecutor's bench again, his legs standing slightly further apart than they had been before.

"I don't think that could be further from the truth, sir. I admit that I hadn't put much thought to it in the past, but standing here now... I believe this 'desire' you talk about might be the most holy thing there is," Fulbright swallowed hard as he stepped around Simon's side until they were face to face.
