Summary

On his third encounter, he meets a strange man who sees right through him and helps pull him from the brink of self-destruction.

Inspired by a fic idea on tumblr : "John and Sherlock know the Yard has a pool going for when they’re finally going to get together. It’s been running forever, and it’s worth thousands of pounds. It’s all fun and games, hahaha, until they find out Lestrade is in dire financial straits (dog needs emergency surgery, he’s putting his kid through gymnastics training, I don’t know, something), and they decide to fake a relationship to win the pool for him. Sherlock figures out the day and way that Lestrade thinks it’s going to happen, and they act it out. It’s all for a good cause, fake relationship style, until it’s not."

A tension settled over the room for a few moments before Mycroft huffed in some undetermined type of annoyance. “How long do we have Sherlock?”
“How long for what?” John demanded.
Sherlock spoke denying Mycroft the chance to answer. Not that he was going to. “A month. Perhaps less.”
“My thoughts as well.”
“We’re going to have to…”
“Yes. Yes, I’ll get my people on it.”
“I will be involved.”
“Of course, brother mine. Anthia will be at your service until we move.”
“And she will follow my orders?”
“If they are reasonable.”
“Reaso…”
Whatever else Sherlock was going to say was cut off by Greg aggressively waving his hands. “Enough! The both of you. No more of this Holmes crap. Just tell us what the bloody hell you are talking about.”
It seemed the girl's disappearance was eating the detective inspector more than any of the other three had thought. A silent conversation passed between the two brothers. Trying not to be rude about it, they were quick to agree that Sherlock would explain.
“Moriarty wants her loyalty and to get it he has very few paths."
