Without the barrier of a screen, door, or speaker, it was like meeting Liko again for the first time. Dot didn't know how much difference such direct eye contact could make, but the full force of Liko’s attention gave her goosebumps. She tried to look anywhere else, but her eyes betrayed her. If she had known that the inward curl of Liko’s hair looked that soft in close proximity, her voice that gentle without being muffled, or her eyes that vibrant of a blue in real life, Dot had the feeling that maybe she wouldn’t have shut her door so tight before.
“I—um…sorry… but, who are you?”

(Dot meets Liko in the flesh for the first time and immediately decides she is the most important person on the ship.
