Feng Xin steps closer, those oh-so-pretty eyes fixed on you, and you resist the urge to lean back.
"We realize this is inconvenient," he says calmly and you let out a trapped breath, relieved by his understanding.
But Mu Qing speaks up, shattering your temporary peace. "And we would not usually impose. But there are…forces at play here. A catastrophe."
Forces? Catastrophe?
"Really..?" You punctuate the word with a skeptical arch of your brow, crossing your arms for good measure. "Gentlemen, this is Ghost City. We see more disasters in a day than some places do in a decade. And what kind of catastrophe? A misplaced ox cart? A gambling den brawl gone wrong?"
Mu Qing coughs, the sound suspiciously like a chuckle. He must relish this unexpected pushback. Even if it is pushback against them.
