"I was wondering," Kate's hands fidgeted with the fabric of her sleeve, a nervous habit she thought she had conquered years ago, "at the start of the season, you mentioned there might be some widowers who would be interested in marrying me. Is that still the case?"
“My, my.” Lady Danbury’s brows lifted in surprise. “A turnabout, indeed.”
Kate opened her mouth to reply, but before she could form the words, the older woman’s gaze sharpened.
“And your sudden interest in marriage, would it have anything to do with your rather long and private conversation with Lord Bridgerton last night?”

“When I took your hand to assure you I was unharmed from the bee sting, you – you looked at me. When I was trying to shoot a gun, you took it upon yourself to manhandle me and you looked at me. And now, I am trying my utmost to understand you, understand your past, and you…” She trails off, unable to keep going, and Anthony wonders if she is so distraught because of the storm or because of all their near-misses and almost-kisses.
“Have you not looked back?” Anthony asks, abandoning his pretences of decorum, for it is evident that Kate is not maintaining hers. “Every single time, are you truly telling me you felt nothing in return? Because if you did… if you felt nothing, tell me right now and I will walk away and we can agree that this conversation never happened.”
Set during and after the 2x04 library scene. What if Kate didn't walk away from Anthony when she did?
