Summary
Léothen est né dans les frontières d'un empire qui traque les siens sans relâche, exigeant leur asservissement. Les selvans, son peuple, ont commis l'irréparable. Un génocide sur le peuple ostrant, via la libération de forces magiques obscures et terrifiantes appelées Morg'thols, dont ils ont peu a peu perdu le contrôle.
C'était il y a près de deux cent ans. Depuis, l'empire ostrant a pansé ses plaies, et s'est lentement relevé. Plus structuré. Plus fort. Et sans pitié pour les vaincus.
Fait prisonnier, héritier malgré lui de ce lourd fardeau, Léothen s'était résigné à mourir. Les sorciers comme lui ne font pas de très bons esclaves. Mais un jour, il est acheté par un noble chaldéen, Nathanaël de Raincourt, un mage ostrant bien décidé à faire de Léothen son esclave-source, sa réserve de pouvoir indispensable aux combats qui continuent de faire rage contre les puissances Morg'thol. Malgré leur condition diamétralement opposée, entre les deux hommes, un pacte silencieux se noue.
Léothen s'était résigné à son sort, mais le destin lui propose une autre voie. L'occasion de venger l'honneur de son peuple déchu, et de débarrasser le monde des Morg'thols, une bonne fois pour toute.- Language:

Summary
Leothen was born within the borders of an empire that relentlessly hunts down its people, demanding their enslavement. Selvans, his people, have committed a terrible crime. A genocide against the Ostrant people, through the release of dark and terrifying magical forces called Morg'thols, over which they gradually lost control.
That was nearly two hundred years ago. Since then, the Ostrant Empire has healed its wounds and slowly risen again. More structured. Stronger. And with no mercy for the vanquished. Taken prisoner, unwilling heir to this heavy burden, Leothen had resigned himself to death. Wizards like him don't make very good slaves. But one day, he is bought by a Chaldean nobleman, Nathanaël de Raincourt, an Ostrant mage determined to make Leothen his source-slave, an indispensable reserve of power for the battles that continue to rage against the Morg'thol powers. Despite their diametrically opposed conditions, a silent pact is forged between the two men.
