Summary
A Zurena FanFic set in Season 5; it takes place after New Year's but prior to Maca telling Zulema that she quits.
I wrote this to make El Oasis make sense in my own head, because while the Zurena interactions were on point, the story line was total crap. I'd prefer not to give too much away here, but I understand that people like to know what they are getting themselves into, especially given the length of this work. So I will say this...
This is written as a sort of stream-of-consciousness piece that takes a dive into Zulema's psyche as she navigates a meaningful day (that never happened but should have haha) and reflects on herself and her relationship with Maca. It's written from Zulema's perspective, and truthfully second-person usually isn't my favorite, but it just felt right for this story. So for those of you who find that approach awkward, I hope you will still give it a chance.

Summary
After 4x13, Root leaves and finds the Dollhouse in Los Angeles. They agree to make her a Doll, and in turn she'll have the feelings over Sameen's apparent demise erased from her mind after her contract ends. Little did she know that Samaritan, who's taken an interest on the Dollhouse, would send Shaw there for some brain-washing as well. Meanwhile, Team Machine struggles to keep doing the work and saving numbers in NY - and that's not going well for them after Root's departure. The future will surely be a different place with Samaritan playing with Dolls.

Combination of three prompts: 'came over to yell at you because your dog wont stop barking and its four in the morning but you're really neat,' 'started talking about menu items at a fast food drive-thru au' (I stretched that one a bit), and 'returning mail sent to the wrong address au.' Encounters between neighbors Root and (Dr.!) Shaw are accidental until they aren't anymore.
Now with continuing plot-line! Root's work at Wren Tech pulls her and Shaw into the company's secret projects.
