Summary
Daisy blinked the tears away, and let out a breath. She turned back to him and opened her mouth to say something, but the words stuck in her throat, her eyes widening in panic.
“Coulson, your arm!” she shouted.
Phil looked down.
“What…”
It was gone. Brown, flaky dust was settling where the limb had been, and the destruction was spreading from the stump towards the rest of his body, rapidly eradicating his legs and moving towards his head. It was too fast, there was no way to stop it.
Was this his payment to the Rider?
There was no time. He looked up, he had to say goodbye.
“Daisy…” he started, but the dust swallowed the rest of his words, and a second later, he was gone.

Summary
Phil carefully closed the remaining distance, and, in lieu of a stick, lightly poked her leg with his shoe. Still no movement. But, something about her seemed... familiar. He furrowed his brows and knelt down next to her torso, putting the ICER away. He turned her over to see her face, and jerked back as if bitten by a snake.
“Skye?” he whispered, confusion coloring his voice.
It wasn’t possible. She was upstairs, with Ward, playing cards. But, after spending so many hours sitting next to her bed after the guest house, he’d recognize her anywhere, even under the layer of grime and days old make up that covered her face.

"Oh my god." Mack murmured, burying his head in his hands. He looked at the folder in front of him, flipped open with its contents spread out across his desk. The title page showing the annoyingly energetic smile of a brownhaired, scruffy looking young man was swept carelessly to one side of the desk. Someone stepped through the open door into his tiny office. He didn't bother looking up, he could tell by the steps it was May. "What's he done now?" she asked, annoyance already audible in her voice.

Daisy thought back to the mission. To the thing that had done this to her.
It hadn’t been human. Not even close. A machine, if you could call it that—built from shifting plates and fluid metal that seemed to breathe. It moved like a living organism, but no heartbeat pulsed within it. They hadn’t even been sure what it wanted until it struck. A pulse, rippling through the air like a wave through water, slammed into her. She had felt it tear through her bones, unraveling the resonance inside her like threads ripped from a tapestry.
For one shattering instant, she had been more connected to her powers than ever before. She had felt every vibration in the world, an overwhelming flood of sensation, too much to contain. Then it all snapped. A violent cutoff, like a song cut mid-note.
And she was left with nothing.
Or, when an encounter with a machine leaves Daisy without her powers, she finds herself struggling more than she thought she would.
