Lucius’s priorities have always rested on family and social standing. When he gets word that Draco, his son and heir, has been Sorted into Hufflepuff, it’s only natural to express his disappointment at such events. Lucius makes his displeasure known and ignores all letters sent from Draco thereafter.
However, when they get word that Draco, their only son, is injured and ill, he is forced to reassess what is truly important.
