“Isn’t the beach pretty?” Yeonjun replies faintly, mesmerized by the sight of the waves making its way slowly to the shore. “I think I haven’t been able to appreciate it lately.”
It’s as if all the salty air went into his lungs when Kai croaks out, “You’re prettier, hyung.”
Or, Kai finally gets to visit Hawaii for the first time in years. Along the way, he tries to understand himself a little better with Yeonjun at his side.

“Um.” Kai feels a little ridiculous. Look, he loves plushies and all, but only in the capacity of them being soft and cute. A plush coming to life is not very high on his wishlist. “What’s your name?”
“Yeonjun,” the cat plush says after a short pause. Kai ponders shortly on why the name sounds so familiar when his doorbell rings.
“I’ll be right back, Yeonjun-ssi. Don’t...move?”
“I can’t,” is the dry response, and Kai smiles at the unexpected humor. He doesn’t know whether he’s relieved or disappointed when he comes back and sees ‘Yeonjun’ still sitting upright on his bed.

“We can’t do this,” Yeonjun groans, even though the tightness in his pants says otherwise. “Lea told me I’m supposed to take care of you.”
“And you are. You can take care of me like this,” Kai whispers right back.
When Lea told him that her little brother was attending his college this year as a freshman, she made Yeonjun promise to her that he’d look out for him. He’s pretty sure she didn’t mean having Kai pinned down beneath him on his mattress during a frat party.

Yeonjun lets out a confused squeak and Kai simply moves closer, his face unnervingly close as he smiles coyly.
“I’m saying, I’ll be your fake boyfriend. I’ll be so convincing, you might even fall in love with me instead.”

Or: Peak humiliation for Yeonjun, is hearing his ex wax poetry about his new boyfriend, before casting him a scathing look of pity and going, “What about you, Yeonjun? Are you holding up just fine?”.
So lying about having a new boyfriend isn't exactly Yeonjun's fault. Especially not when Kai does a damn good job of being that fake boyfriend.
