Summary
Troy Barrett is traded to the Ottawa Centaurs after bringing up the assault allegations against Dallas Kent and attacking the star-centre at practice. After years of being treated poorly by the Toronto Guardians, he struggles to adapt to the Centaurs' more accepting nature. Over the course of his first year with the Centaurs, he faces repercussions for speaking out against Dallas, deals with threats from the league, navigates a whole new team that is primed to hate him, and faces several media scandals.
This is pre Troy/Harris, and Shane/Ilya is not mentioned, but I picture it being in the background.

“So why are you out here? Did old man leave you all alone at party?” Ilya said, grabbing a pack of cigarettes from his pocket and holding them out towards Kip. The other man shook his head, so Ilya took out one for himself.
“No, no. I just got a bit overwhelmed myself and stepped out for a minute,” Kip said, facing back towards the night sky.
“And it is boring,” Ilya added.
Kip laughed. “Yeah. . . The endless stream of old, straight men giving me weird looks doesn’t help.”
Ilya barked out a laugh at that. “I cannot imagine. This your first party with NHL, yes? As a couple?” Kip nodded. Ilya took a slow drag of his cigarette. “Now I understand why is overwhelming for you.”
