Summary
(Mira’s fast. Her reflexes, reactions)
Or
Rumi wasn’t stopping, her patterns, oh, such cruel things; ignite her skin an acidic pink in the dark. She’s begging them to understand, to listen, staggering toward the deadly, cutting end of Mira’s gok-do. Even as Mira begs her to stop, please, stop.
Fingers trembling, betrayal sits heavy on her tongue—she can’t do this.
Even as Rumi grows close, to close.
(Desperate to seek penance in the only way she knows how, sacrifice)
In a hair’s breadth a blur of black and gold moves between Rumi and Mira’s gok-do, the sick, wet, sound of flesh colliding with starlight—being speared inward, through.
(Zoey’s always been faster though.)
