Xie Lian falls into his arms and Hua Cheng wraps him up in his embrace, allowing his god to sink into the warmth. His mind clears of any thoughts and concerns, there is only Xie Lian’s face pressed into his chest, buried in his robes, his beloved’s long hair cascading down his own back, falling against his legs. There is only the solid weight of his body fitting against him like it is where he belongs (even if the mere thought has Hua Cheng feeling inadequate).
He waited eight hundred years but somehow the one spent apart was the most excruciating of them all.——

Blowing a hard sigh through his nose, Prince Jing simply scoops the little, injured, and fully konked out mer into his arms, and heads towards the garden, for the nearest pond. Wang Xi can only sigh internally. That decides that.

“Of course Shizun means it,” Luo Binghe says, and oh, the words come out a bit numbly. He only just manages to stop himself from saying the next part aloud: He’s just mistaken.
(Of course he knows, of course everyone knows—the distasteful thing at the heart of Luo Binghe, the rotten core of him. His Shizun’s capacity for loving mercy knows no bounds; that doesn’t mean he, too, doesn’t know.)

Xie Lian talks as Hua Cheng runs his fingers through his hair. He talks as his husband undoes the bun atop his head and lets the strands fall loose; he keeps talking and Hua Cheng continuously kisses the top of his head and he is always, always, hanging off of each and every word.
Hua Cheng lets him just talk, for hours and hours (which, Xie Lian does not know how long it’s been, and Hua Cheng does not dare disturb him, because the look on his beloved’s face, the way his eyes light up with each trinket and the way he is so passionate about mere scraps just makes Hua Cheng so happy to see his beloved having fun, that he wants Xie Lian to keep talking forever.)
(Or, Xie Lian hasn't had someone who would listen to him talk for over 800 years, and now that he has his beloved husband, he may end up talking a bit too much. Hua Cheng eagerly listens to every word.)
