There’s a moment of silence, and you look over, suddenly worrying that you’ve overstepped or made Astarion uncomfortable. Instead, there’s a small smile on his face. He’s beautiful in moonlight, you’d forgotten. It’s only when he looks back at you that you see the sadness in his eyes. His voice is soft when he speaks, but steady with certainty.

“This is a dream.” She quietly laughed to herself. Of course this was a dream. Everything that had happened was absolutely ridiculous. Now, her brain presented her with some beautiful man she’d probably seen in a magazine somewhere. She remembers the 7-11 and thinks she must have tripped over the curb and knocked herself out. She’d never had lucid dreams before, but that had to be what this was. Nothing else made sense.
“Hello? Are you listening to me?” The man interrupted her thoughts, “I’ve cornered one of those brain things. Can you help me fight it?”
Erin looked toward where he gestured, then back at him. She shrugged and said, “Why not. None of this is real, and I’ve already ruined my shoes.” She laughed again and started walking toward the bush he’d indicated.
