The guy rolled his eyes, laughing again. “Relax, man. Just saying hi. Didn’t know she was taken. Not that it’s gonna help with a rack like—”
Tim punched him.

Straight toward the bleachers.

Summary
“I need to—excuse me,” she muttered, already pushing past the desk.
“Lucy, wait—he’s fine!” Carla called behind her.
But Lucy didn’t hear. Not really.
All she could think was: He’s hurt. He didn’t tell me. Someone else told me. I’m his girlfriend. I should have been the first to know.

Summary
“You’re going where?”
Tim’s voice echoed through the otherwise quiet apartment, thick with disbelief and barely restrained frustration. He stood in the middle of their kitchen, his jaw tight, arms crossed over his chest as Lucy leaned against the counter, arms wrapped around herself like armor.
“Undercover,” she repeated calmly, though her fingers fidgeted against the hem of her hoodie. “For about a month. It’s a joint op between LAPD and the DEA. They need someone who can blend in fast, has UC experience, and who hasn’t been burned. Grey recommended me.”
Tim exhaled harshly, pacing a few steps before turning back to face her. “And when were you going to tell me?”

She raised an eyebrow. “What?”
He smirked, despite the pain. “Just Tim.”

Tim stared at her.

Summary
The crime scene. The mother’s screams. The little girl’s lifeless body.
A sob rose in her throat, but she bit down on her lip, trying to shove it back down. She couldn’t lose it. Not here. Not now.
But then the door creaked open.
She stiffened. She didn’t have to turn around to know who it was.
Tim.

Summary
Of course I still love you
She hadn’t said it back.
Not because she didn’t feel it. God, she felt it. But because she was terrified.
Terrified that if she let herself believe in this—in them—he’d walk away again.
But the longer she sat there, the more she realized she couldn’t stay silent. Not anymore.
