The doctor steps aside and gestures toward the hallway. “Third door on the left. She’s a little sleepy, but awake. Just… brace yourself.”
He doesn’t elaborate, which only makes Elliot more enthusiastic. He pushes through the swinging door, the antiseptic smell hitting him harder now. He reaches the third door and pauses for a beat.
Then pushes it open.
