Summary
Camila is injured in battle and an overprotective Beatrice is quick to blame Ava for her recklessness. Caitlyn had been backed into a corner. Now, she’s standing in a room with twenty-four other women and counting down the days until Jayce can regretfully tell her that she’ll be going home.
They’re still setting up the lights, so Caitlyn takes a moment to look around the room, examining the other girls. The crew certainly must have been aiming for variety, because each person is increasingly distinct from the one next to them. She’s standing in the back row of the lineup, for height reasons, and though she can’t get a good view at the faces right in front of her, she can make assumptions from the brief glances she had gotten earlier and the backs of their heads.
One woman stands out in particular—vivid pink hair with one side shaven. The woman is standing further to the left of the group, so Caitlyn’s able to lean forward just slightly and get a better view, only to realize with stunning clarity—
There’s no fucking way that woman is straight.

“I have a plan,” Beatrice mutters under her breath, answering whatever she imagines Ava would say with conviction she didn’t really feel like. “Leave Andalusia.”
Go to the airport. Throw a gum on the flight board and see where it sticks. Beatrice knows the story, mostly because she was in the vicinity when Ava answered Camila’s question. She was annoyed, back then, but in hindsight, she was also probably jealous of JC.
