Summary
I didn’t realize how important this was to you, Charles admitted, sending along the impression of… gratitude. Gratitude that Erik cared this much. I’m not who I used to be, though. I’m not the same.
And neither am I, Erik replied, leaning back against the headboard. I have no expectations. I just want to help, if I can.
Mental silence fell between them—Charles was still there, drifting carefully in the center of Erik’s thoughts, but he was thinking, guarding the quiet metronome of his thoughts from Erik.
What if this doesn’t work? Charles asked, uncertain.
What if it does?

Summary
“Your name. Is. Fucking. James.”
“What’s yer point, Scooter?”
“Don’t you fucking dare. You stop that right now. I had to find out from Jean that Logan isn’t even your real first name!”
He’s scrabbling at the sleeve of his shirt now, unbuttoning the cuffs and roughly pulling up fabric to expose the skin of his forearm.
