A week after Jack left, he brought Castiel back from the Empty — whole, alive, and standing in front of Dean like nothing had changed, though everything had. Dean’s grateful. Of course he is. But now that Cas is here, really here, Dean is left face-to-face with everything unsaid between them. He knows what Cas confessed before dying, and worse — he knows damn well what he feels in return. But saying it out loud? That’s another story entirely, because there's something broken inside of him.
Dean asks Cas for something no one’s ever asked of him before: to go back in time, to the moment something broke, and stop it from happening. Stop the moment that taught Dean to be afraid of what he wanted most. Stop the moment Dean got broken.

As a last resort, an angel can choose to give a human their halo to protect them from harm. That’s not in any of the lore. Neither is the fact that without their halo, an angel cannot hold a vessel. Now that that’s established, all Dean has to do is figure out how to get Cas back, while he works out who he even is anymore, now that he’s not quite fully human.

Summary
Castiel was dead. Again. And it was all Dean's fault.
After failing to drink himself into an early grave, Dean finds a little resolve to pick himself back up and do the right thing: save people. With Sam and Jack by his side, and a little help from a few other survivors, they take on Chuck, restore the world, the multiverse, and everything's back to the way it oughta be.
Everything but Castiel, that is.
Dean clings to a death wish five miles wide after that. And he gets that wish, dying on a hunt. But the worst is yet to come when he wakes up and finds himself in the Empty. And he's not alone.

Summary
Castiel was sold by those who were supposed to protect him, the proceeds used to pay off his parents' debts. He was up for sale yet again, after a thorough examination by a doctor revealed that the Alpha who purchased him had been swindled, as Castiel was a broken Omega. Ordered not to say a word, he sat on the porch and waited for fate to guide him to where he is needed most.
Dean went off to war as a young man and served his country valiantly. But the nightmare didn't end when he was rescued from the camp where he'd been held by brutal monsters. Dean came back to the world broken, and took refuge on his little farm, where he stayed hidden away with the help of his brother Sam, and his Omega, Gabriel. The mated couple try everything to heal Dean, but what the Alpha needs more than anything else is an Omega of his own. But what self-respecting Omega would even want him?
Castiel is rescued by Sam and taken to a home unlike any he has ever known. Filled with love, kindness, and an Alpha he can't stop thinking about. One that society has deemed irreparable, but Castiel refuses to give up on Dean. And decides that he'll make fate guide not only them, but everyone, so that they can find their happy ending.
