Summary
A night in an open cave after an assassination attempt was not how Maomao envisioned her trip going, it’s cold, damp and hardly comfortable, not to mention the fact that her Master is currently not in the best state.
Jinshi goes into pre-heat at the exact wrong moment and forces Maomao to contemplate the relationship between them, should she even acknowledge them, or is it better to just simply remain ignorant. She’s accustomed to choosing the latter, it’s just a habit deeply ingrained into her, yet something makes her hesitate, it’s a feeling that she’s not used to, unfortunately for her though, she recognises the signs of it all too well to simply ignore.

Something uncomfortable flares in his stomach, not quite nausea. He ignores the feeling, just like he ignores the impulse to let his hand fall to her cheek. He plucks his prize out of her hair, polished silver gleaming in the moonlight.
He holds it out to her. “You don’t have to wear it,” he says, “If you don’t want to.”
Maomao’s mouth twists, expression turned inscrutable, but she takes the silver hairstick from him. Her fingers just barely brush against his palm.
