“Not that I’m not enjoying the hell out of this,” Eddie gasps between Steve Harrington’s lips, the fuck even is his life right now; “but this is,” and Steve breaks away and Eddie kind of hates that, but he made his bed: time to lie in it.
“What is this? Just, like, end of the world horniness, right?”
And Eddie forces his gaze to Steve’s face, where his eyes are blown and his color’s off, but his gaze is still so tender, like whatever hurt comes for what he’s about to do is acceptable, so long as it doesn’t touch Eddie. Like he’s…shielding Eddie from something worse than everything that’s already come, somehow, and that’s fucking terrifying in and of itself but—
But Steve—who he barely knows but feels like he knows somewhere deep in his chest—Steve protecting Eddie, and hurting all the more for taking the hit?
It’s unacceptable. It’s sour in Eddie’s veins.
“If I fuck it up again, it won’t matter, I guess,” Steve speaks almost to himself, like he’s reasoning with the universe.
That tips the sour feeling straight into full on sick.

Losing someone close to you is rough. Grief is a strange thing, it affects appetite, sleep patterns, mood. May had reassured Peter many times that he was not crazy for feeling crazy. That he simply needed to give himself time.
He also read about the process of grief in a pamphlet Happy gave him.
So, when he gets back from the funeral at the lake house and walks into his bedroom to find Mr. Stark lying on the rug, ankles crossed, twirling his thumbs, and generally looking extremely alive…
…well…

Summary
The first time James Rhodes meets Tony Stark, Tony is a scrawny teenager, running across the lawn at campus, yelling curses, using a tea towel to try and trap a roomba-like contraption that is zigzagging wildly through the grass, until he trips over his own feet and faceplants. People laugh but Rhodey takes pity, so when the thing zooms towards him he lifts one foot and traps the robot underneath it. It beeps once and the wheels stop whirring.
Instead of thanking him, the teenager scrambles forward on hands and knees, glares up at him and says “well thanks you probably broke it, dumbass.”Bookmarked by Anonymous_Triceratops
