Summary
March 2020. The Atlantic Provinces are creating a bubble to avoid a surge in Covid cases, and Anne is left outside as they close borders. Stranded in Toronto, she knows no one at all. Or does she?
“You are kidding me, Diana Barry! Baynard! Are you even hearing what you’re saying? I’m not calling Gilbert Blythe. I prefer to sleep in my dingy place and then befriend all the homeless people in Toronto and then walk to PEI and stand there until they open the damn border before calling him! It is just not going to happen! Today, tomorrow or ever, it is out of the question! I’m done with him and I will never ask him for any favours!” She had been glad not to see him in the past ten years. Well, not glad. But relieved. Because it was just too hard.
“I actually called to ask you a favour. Huge one,” Diana answered. He could tell she was nervous.
“I need you to call Anne and let her stay at your place until PEI opens the borders,” Diana said quickly, as if to take the effect off the words. There was a short silence. Then he laughed. Because the notion was so absurd, he could not think of any other reaction. If she had asked him to get a cow that gave chocolate milk, it would have seemed more serious.Series

Summary
Fred Wright barely started university and things are already interesting, since he got assigned as roommate the saddest, most quiet boy of all of PEI. While trying to unravel the enigma that is Gilbert Blythe (while becoming his friend, because they will be friends and that's a fact), he decides to focus on his studies. Just his studies. He wants good theoretical foundations and will have plenty of time to date later.
That is, until Blythe lets a cute architecture student share a table, surprising him not only because he talked to a girl, but because she is as intriguing as he is. Just maybe, in an opposite way. So now he needs to handle all the study, understand why Blythe is a mopping soul (he's half convinced it's a girl back home), and figure out a way to make Ella not fall in love with him. Maybe being honest will do the trick?
This maybe could maybe be read as a stand-alone story, but it wouldn't make full sense without Let Me In. Just so you know.Series

He still remembered his words. It was late afternoon, and he was able to sit and hold a conversation more than the previous days. He was treasuring the moment, doing his best to remember everything, trying to learn as much as he could from this man that was just slipping away from him. Too soon. He had been telling him about Anne, because he asked, telling him how he knew she was his girl. It was incredible how an impending death stripped you of embarrassment and self-consciousness. He listened carefully. After a few minutes of peaceful silence, he finally spoke.
"You might think a teenage romance is what you want, son. Because you're a teenager now and you just want instant gratification. But if your heart is anything like mine, you already have the answers for your life. Don't ruin it by going too fast. Cultivate the next few years so that when your reap, you both are grown, mature and steady. So you go into this adventure with full conscience. Wait until she's sixteen, at least, give her space to grow and become her own and not an appendix to you".
So he was giving her space, even when he knew Anne was never going to be an appendix for anyone and hadn't intended to come back for a few years at least.
