Beth might not have known the face, but she knew the name. It was one of the ones that was whispered a lot back around the Academy and even here at the Bureau – loaded up with the sort of weight and awe that was reserved only for the agents who’d shrugged off the grit of grunt work and ascended the ranks of notoriety. Personally, Beth had never really been impressed, but that was mostly because half the time she didn’t even think he was real – he wouldn’t be the first legendary agent to be more a mythical imagining than feet on the ground after all.

Beth startles awake by a sudden noise in the house. Unable to rouse her husband, she goes off to investigate and finds a man in her kitchen. The man has a gun and she’s pretty sure he’s there to kill her and her family. Under his breathe he’s humming a deeply familiar tune. She eventually realizes it for what it is. An original song that only two people know – her and her soulmate.
That’s right. We’re doing a soulmates fic.
Loosely based on a prompt.
1/1/2023 - still working on this fic. I was really hoping to have an update by Dec/Jan holidays but it wasn't to be.
3/12/2023 - I took a break. Back. Trying to get back to writing with this one!
