Summary
Shane felt Finn’s sudden rage, the way he resented Dane for how nothing ever touched him—and underneath that, the way Finn, inexplicably, wanted to be the thing that could. “Just because your life doesn’t matter doesn’t mean you get to fuck up mine.”
Ilya’s eyes widened, just for a moment, sparking with something close to hurt before narrowing back into coldness. “I’ll be ready for your mandatory tour in the morning, Prince Finn.” He turned his back on the camera, still shirtless of course, but somehow it looked defenseless now, instead of cocky.
“I—” Shane said, and reached toward the screen.
Ilya shook his head, ever so slightly, and walked out of the room. Shane stared at the empty space where he’d been, bereft.
“And cut,” Scott said. “Holy shit.”
Ilya walked back into view, sat down in his chair, smirk firmly back in place. Shane’s hands were trembling.
“Well,” Kip said. “I think it’s safe to say the chemistry is there.”Or, Shane and Ilya are cast in a production of Ember & Ice and eventually they fuck about it.

Summary
Shane loses his game to a blizzard and his boyfriend to a bad hit, all in the same night.
Snowed in with his parents in Montreal, he watches Ilya get stretchered off on live TV, and discovers that when your relationship is a secret, no one at the hospital thinks to call you.
In Ottawa, Ilya wakes up with broken bones, a serious concussion, and a neatly edited brain. The months where he was lonely and depressed and fighting with Shane? Gone. He’s mentally living in the soft, hopeful beginning of things—and the more everyone tiptoes around him, the more wrong it feels.
The Centaurs step up. The Hollanders dig in. Shane tries to convince himself that “temporary amnesia” is not the same thing as losing him.
They’re still together. They’re technically fine.

After the cottage things didn't work out how Shane had planned. He and Ilya broke up. He tried dating again, but even other men didn't make him feel the way Ilya had so he convinced himself maybe he was bi like Ilya. If men other men couldn't make him happy shouldn't he chose an easier path? When he met Davina a single mother struggling to make ends meet working at his team's rink he tried again. He convinced himself he wouldn't feel love like he had with Ilya, but being a father to Davina's son came close enough. He told himself he was happy with his wife, happy with his life. The fire he had for Ilya was played up in his mind. That is until Ilya walks back into his life.
