"You push Buck, make him fall, and Eddie will get a bruise, too," Chimney said once, calmly, without even looking up from the book he was reading, without realizing that he had just taken Eddie's world and hurled it headlong into the Universe at fourteen kilometers per second like a fucking asteroid.
And Eddie knows it, really, it's nothing new, because he and Buck have been Eddie & Buck for seven years now.
It's just... it's just scary that anyone noticed. That everyone now realizes that Eddie isn't sure he can exist in a world where Buck isn't by his side, because it would be like getting out of bed one morning and finding that someone has pulled the floor out from under his feet; because Buck, with his kindness and his big heart and his way of being generous without ever asking for anything in return, had worked his way through Eddie, under his skin, behind his bones and muscles, and had opened a window into his heart, arriving where young Eddie still existed, alone and terrified, and had sat with him in silence between the four blue walls of his bedroom.

Summary
Adriana doesn’t tell their parents that she’s going to LA. She doesn’t tell Eddie, either—or ask, for that matter.
She does ask Chris, and he thinks it’s a good idea—says as much, on the phone, and doesn’t say much else.
“Buck will probably be hovering,” is what Chris does volunteer.
It still surprises her when the man who opens the door is not Eddie. It’s—Captain America, is the thing that actually comes to mind—a man close to a foot taller than she is, if not more than that, with blond curls and broad shoulders, and he’s got a question in his very blue eyes that’s probably less friendly than the one he actually asks her.
“Uh,” he says. “Can I help you?”

Buck swallows.
Chris nudges his knee. “You know, I used to think you and my dad would end up together,” he says.
The words come so out of left-field that Buck gets whiplash from the speed he turns his head.—
Ten years later, Buck sees Chris at a coffee shop.
