Mesmerised, he rolled up the sleeve of his turn out coat and pushed his arm into the flames. The pain felt far away. At least further away than the immediate pain of being cheated on and left alone in a fancy restaurant by his soulmate.
He watched the bubbling skin creep up his arm, inching closer and closer to his soul mark. When the burning finally hit his inner elbow the pain felt suddenly very close. Too close. Oh god, what had he done?
