George and Alex are soulmates, and they've known that since their early teens. But how much of each other do they really have a claim to? George has someone else's marks on his other wrist, opposite to the ones Alex has given him, and while the marks closest to Alex's heart are George's, the ones on his upper arm? not so much.
This is a spinoff of 'If You Were There Beware'. It's both a prequel and an accompanying fic. You can probably read this without reading iywtb, but it'd be good to read it for context.

Will had already gotten his one freebie of an ‘intense homoerotic friendship that ruins your life’ out of his way in college, as one should. Unfortunately Macklin hadn’t gotten that memo, and had spent his time in Boston actually focusing on hockey (read: working himself beyond the limits of sanity). So now Will found himself attached at the hip to another teammate, but this time, he didn’t have the same plausible deniability.
Macklin knew what he was here for when he came to San Jose, hockey. But, well, he needed a ride to the rink, and someone to go over plays with, and someone to watch movies with on the plane. Will was the perfect candidate, the right balance of serious and also willing to pull Mack out of whatever new avenue of insanity he was turning down. So, yeah, Will was pretty great.

He'd get up in just a second. He'd go downstairs and make Alex sit down on the tall stool by the counter, and have him tell Miles everything about his amazing tour as Miles puttered around the kitchen fixing them both tea and biscuits. It'd be perfect.
If only he could get up.
Or: Miles is sick and is being very stubborn about it, and Alex flies back to take care of him.
