Summary
General Hux always noticed small details, tics of his fellow officers and patterns some liked to stand by. Kylo Ren had many of these tics that Hux liked to call extreme behaviour problems but the one tic that came to the front of the mind was Ren's constant attempts to avoid touch.
While Hux would have ignored it, after all everyone had their own issues to deal with, there was a want for Kylo to touch him that drove him foreword.

Hux is a brilliant sniper, resulting in fame throughout the First Order, bringing up moral and recruitment with him as the poster-boy. Unfortunately this makes him public enemy number one for anyone who doesn't agree with the Order and the Board has requested he get a body guard.

Summary
He almost felt as if he was nothing but a body for Master to use, bruise and bite. While Hux certainly took pleasure in those actions, it never settled his nerves. He felt like a sacrifice, a lamb for the lion to feast upon.
In retrospect, he was.

Summary
It isn’t until Daphne’s getting ready for bed that evening that she realizes she lied to Niles. She didn’t mean to. When she said every person she knew with a soulmark had met their soulmate within a year, she was absolutely certain she was telling the truth. But it turns out, she forgot to include herself on that list of people.
Daphne can’t say the exact day she got her mark, but it must be coming up on two years ago, now. Double the length of time anyone else she knows has had to wait. She’d be rather depressed about that if she dwelt on it at all, but most of the time she forgets she even has a soulmark.
Perhaps that’s why it’s on her back. The universe knows she’ll have to wait awhile to meet her soulmate, and it put the mark somewhere that she can’t see everyday so as not to have the reminder constantly hanging over her head. Unlike poor Dr. Crane. His mark is right there on his forearm. He must be about to meet his soulmate soon — any day now, in fact. The universe won’t be so cruel as to make him wait for ages.

In the end, Gao Tu takes the coward’s way out. He waits until Shen Wenlang is in a meeting on Friday afternoon to drop the envelope on his desk. Then he goes home.
He makes it through his front door before the calls start. He cancels three calls from Shen Wenlang and then gives up and turns off his phone. A moment later, the anxiety hits him and nausea curdles his stomach.
