Boone’s eyes widened in alarm and he smashed his finger against their lips. He peered over their shoulder, squinting into the forest behind them and moving closer until their knees met. “Don’t move.”
“What is it?” Bloodhound mumbled and froze, practically holding their breath. Their eyes darted for their axe which lay too far away for their comfort. “A prowler?”
“Shh. I can’t tell…” he leaned closer, his chest almost touching theirs. His hand brushed through the fur around their collar. “I think it’s–” he suddenly cupped their face with his palms. His fingers grazed their goggles, his dark eyes shining bright with mischief.
They jolted in surprise and frowned, thinking that this trick would soon be accompanied by the man's usual fiendish chuckle, but there was no laughter this time. He bent his face to theirs slowly, giving them the brief opportunity to protest or pull away, but they would not tonight.

Living alone in the forest, Bloodhound worked only to survive and spent much time praying to the gods and doing divination. They had peace, and they decided they were happy with that.
That was until the men came, riding their stinking horses and chasing off the wildlife.
A medieval-type world in which the APEX games do not exist, and Bloodhound lives in the forest in Exile. The lord of the kingdom they reside alone in, Walter Fitzroy, takes notice of their presence and gives them peace offerings.
A common enemy is discovered, and it seems that Fate has plans to bring them together.
