    Wei Wuxian's life had derailed the moment he presented as an omega. He felt like the same person, despite his new biological reactions, yet everyone acted like his whole life should change. How could a poor omega like him become an engineer? Even if his poor little brain could figure out the math, who would want to hire him? Which made his promotion to the Director of Engineering that more rewarding. It was proof that his hard work and planning was finally coming together. He could pratically taste his future on the horizon.

    “The great Hanguang-jun has done it! The Second Jade of Lan has cultivated to immortality!”

    That day, people cheered and celebrated in the streets. Alcohol flowed freely, and everyone was in high spirits. Wei Wuxian couldn’t get away from the ruckus if he tried. It was as though when Lan Wangji ascended, so did everyone who heard the news.

    In Wei Wuxian’s mind, it had been a foregone conclusion. If anyone in his generation was going to cultivate to such a level, it could only be Lan Wangji. There was no one else so righteous, so deserving, so powerful.

    Why then, didn’t Wei Wuxian feel much like celebrating when he heard the news?

    AKA - Lan Wangji cultivates to immortality only to find out that Wei Wuxian has no golden core and thus can't cultivate to immortality with him. He decides that does not work for him and he must find a way around it.

    A Daemon AU retelling of The Untamed, beginning in Gusu and following canon events (minus the Yīn Iron), where rules are strict, feelings are inconvenient, and touching someone else’s daemon means everything.
