In 1974, after Catherine Littlefield and her team got the Stargate up and running, Earth sent an exploratory team through the gate to Abydos, inadvertently starting an intergalactic war with the Goa’uld that devastated the galaxy. Stranded on Abydos, Hammond, Carter, and Landry find unexpected allies in the persons of Bratac and Garshaw of Belote – together they train recruits to take the battle back to the Goa’uld.

Season 6, Between “Descent” and “Frozen”
SG-1 Mission to P49-116.They had followed all the standard pre-mission protocols. They’d sent the MALP through, and, while the area near the Stargate itself had been completely abandoned, it had looked promising. Then, they’d sent the UAV, and everyone had been pretty excited by the readings around the old mine. Go’auld rarely abandoned planets, but why would they abandon a planet that was still rich in naquada. He should have known it was all too good to be true.
