“P-please,” she begs, her voice barely coming out. “Please don’t hurt me…”
She had been hoping this would turn out like a movie- where the protagonist is cornered by a beast, about to be killed, but at the last moment, the beast softens for one reason or another and lets the person go, sometimes even befriending them.
But that’s not what happens here.
This world is not that kind, and she is not that lucky.
The monster releases a nightmarish bellow that echoes through the entire Tent. Pomni can feel the soundwaves shaking her soul and making her eardrums ring. Its countless eyes all lock onto her at once, pupils tightening into tiny pinpricks, and she swears she can see something in them—hunger, hatred, a wild agony that has driven him insane. Its body contorts once more, and it lunges at her like a demonic leopard, mouth open wide.
Pomni screams, scrambles, and is caught in its jaws.
Pomni is devoured by Kaufmo.
But...why is she still alive?
