Summary
Peeta is fourteen when he begins talking to Katniss Everdeen to make sure that they come out of Pairing Season in one piece. The rumors tell of the removal of sex organs or running a man dry. No one truly knows what people who don't pair before the end of the summer of their eighteenth year experience. They go to the Capital but once they're there, who knows what happens to them. There's only been one person from Twelve whose ever come back.

After seeing Gale taken away at the end of last summer, it solidified Peeta's thoughts on the Pairing Season and what it could do to both of them, because by then Peeta knew, if he saw Katniss on fire he would dive headfirst into the Inferno for her, and would get Katniss out above himself, because life without her wouldn't be worth it to him. He took a beating for her when he was eleven, he should have known then what he knows now. Katniss is it, and nothing, not even the flame will take that from him. Not if he has anything to say about it.
