Vance wanted to forget it all. He didn't want to remember it at all. Just thinking about it made him want to trow up. His mom was always sobbing, feeling guilty and terrified. Well, it was expected since he had become so... Different. 2 years abducted and kept in a basement would do that. almost a whole year had passed yet people were still talking about it. He hated pity. people had left Finny Blake alone just because he was "only" there for a month and manage to kill the Grabber and escape. Maybe Finny was the only one who knew what happened in that damned basement, but neither Finney or Vance wanted to talk about it. Because talking about it meant revisiting old memories. Memories that they didn't want to think about. He knew his mom couldn't handle seeing him like this, maybe that is why he was being sent away to his uncle. It was better than staying in that house with his father who just looked at him with disappointment for being this gloomy if he hadn't just gone through hell. It was fine, in this new town (which he has never heard off) no one would know about his past and he could TRY to change. But it wasn't better that his uncle was a cop. He ha a rather terrible past with the cops. but he could try. For his mama.
