What if, when Zelda fell at the start of Tears of the Kingdom, Link caught her? What if they both got sent back in time?
This is an extremely over-ambitious project for my first ever fanfic; a re-write of TotK based on the snippets of the past we saw in canon through Zelda's memories.

Breaking free of the corpse of a dragon, he sees the gargantuan skull, the rows of jagged teeth flashing a phantom, crushing pain across his back.
He remembered.
He had been designated a failure. He was a failure in Her eyes. To be discarded.
Horror, anguish, and fury bubbled up within him and erupted as a raging scream."
Reborn into the world, a failed experiment rebels against fate and tries to find meaning.
This story is split into 4 parts, following the steps of alchemy, as we follow this character's own transformation, for better or worse.
I thought that the reveal of a 'primordial' prototype of Albedo in the 'Shadows Amidst Snowstorms' event was fascinating. This is my interpretation on the impostor's awakening, how he came to the decision to replace Albedo, and my own speculation on what may have happened after the end of Act 2.
