“No, but—” Steve broke off his instinctive response. All his life, he’d believed in doing what was right… he was not about to stop now. Wincing at the prickling pain in his feet, he straightened up to his full height. “Yes. If it means you’ll leave this place.”
"But you don’t look very filling." The tip of the dragon’s tail twitched. "I don’t suppose you’re a virgin?" he asked hopefully. "I’ve heard they taste better."
Steve gritted his teeth and refused to answer. The dragon could very well find that out for himself. He stared at the dragon. The dragon stared back. Then the dragon got up, turned around, and went back into his cave.
"Well? Come on, tribute."

His lips were so dry, his mouth too, and his throat, but the rest of his body felt like hot languid liquid was flowing through it. Steve swallowed, licked his lips. Maybe Steve’s mouth was dry too?
One hot summer, when Bucky and Steve are fifteen, the line between their friendship and something new that Bucky can’t quite name blurs. It is only years later that the line disappears completely and Bucky can finally put a name to that something.

“I found him,” Steve says, and Natasha can tell even over the static of the long-distance call that he’s bone-tired but there’s a lilt to his voice. A cheerfulness, she hasn’t heard in months.
She should feel happy for him. It has been half a year since she saw him by Fury’s empty grave. Months of hunting a ghost that doesn’t want to be found. And she is, sort of. Maybe. She’s also one-hundred percent sure that Steve didn’t find Barnes, but rather that Barnes had allowed himself to be found. “I’m glad,” she says and manages to sound like she means it. “You talked with him yet?”

Steve finds Bucky and brings him back to New York. Natasha just wants to make sure her friend doesn't end up with his throat slit for all his trouble. Bucky and Natasha both get to work on their trust issues.
